For two years our laundry room looked like this…
Since we were way over budget with the house build, we decided to that the laundry room could be put on hold.
We finally installed cabinets, but I couldn’t decide on a countertop. I thought using the same quartz we used in our kitchen, but that would have blown the laundry room budget through the roof.
I searched on Pinterest and found a few tutorials on how to build your own countertops out of wood from the big box home stores.

I followed the tutorials on Artsy Chicks Rule and Sawdust Girl.
- 5 – 2x6x8 white pine boards
- Biscuit Joiner

- Table Saw
- Miter Saw
- Orbital Sander
- Wood Glue
- Wood Stain
- Polyurethane
- Screws (to attach countertop to cabinets)
- Clamps
- Drill
- Push Block

Cutting out the hole for the undermount sink
Luckily I was able to find the sink cutout template that came with our farmhouse sink. It would have been next to impossible to uninstall to trace it; that thing weighs a ton!
I cut out the template and traced the template onto the wood top with a marker
